The Andrews Labor Government will invest in a raft of new equipment for automotive apprentices at Kangan TAFE, boosting traditional trades training opportunities and fostering a pipeline of skilled workers in Victoria.

Minister for Training and Skills Gayle Tierney today visited the Automotive Centre of Excellence at Docklands to announce the $1.3 million investment.

The funding will help Kangan TAFE purchase new equipment including a range of high-end electronic training board car simulators, new computers and software programs.

It will allow students to hone their skills on a variety of vehicle models – from a 20-year-old Toyota Prius to a 2021 Tesla and clean, green cars of the future.

Importantly, the investment ensures Kangan TAFE courses are aligned with industry and that graduates are job-ready.

The investment was delivered through the $12 million TAFE Equipment and Facilities Fund and is part of the Labor Government’s record $3.2 billion investment to rebuild TAFE and support universities and higher education to ensure Victorians have access to high quality education and rewarding career pathways.
