HELPING TO CELEBRATE MILL PARK CHILDREN

The Andrews Labor Government is supporting the Mill Park community to host fun and free educational activities and events for local families and children as part of this year’s Children’s Week celebrations.

Lily D’Ambrosio MP today announced DPV Health Ltd and City of Whittlesea were among the 118 recipients to receive a grant to help host an activity or event during Children’s Week, which runs from 19-27 October.

The week-long national celebration recognises the talents, skills, achievements and rights of children by offering free activities for Victorian families.

DPV Health Ltd will hold an all day fun sensory play space within our local shopping centre to provide information to families on ‘red flags’ for developmental concerns and where they may access services in their local area with a range of activities for parents and children.

City of Whittlesea will hold Super Kids’ Sunday at Norris Bank Parklands to celebrate Children’s Week.

Families can now view a calendar and map of activities that will be held across the state as part of Children’s Week by visiting: www.education.vic.gov.au/childrensweek

Children’s Week events are free-of-charge to Victorian families with children aged 0-12 years and are a great opportunity for families to enjoy a fun, engaging and educational experience.

The theme for Children’s Week 2019 celebrates the right of all children to be healthy, safe and happy, based on Article 24 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The grant recipients will share almost $100,000 worth of funding to help celebrate the national week.

The Victorian Government provided grants to not-for-profit organisations and councils across the state to help cover costs associated with running an event such as hiring entertainment, purchasing craft materials, providing food and children’s prizes.
