Phillip Island Nature Parks Board Appointed

The Victorian Government has announced the new Board for Phillip Island Nature Parks, (PINP) which operates the beloved Penguin Parade, Koala Conservation Reserve, Churchill Island Heritage Farm and Antarctic Journey at Nobbies Centre.

Kevin Love has been appointed Chairperson, recognising his experience, contribution and commitment as a Board member since 2013.

Mr Love is Principal of an independent advisory firm and had a distinguished public service career including as Deputy Secretary for the former Department of Sustainability and Environment.

Three current members, Dr Danielle Auldist, Ms Jane Foley and Ms Michaela Salvato have been reappointed with new members, Ms Jane Jobe, Ms Patrice Mahoney and Dr Geoffrey Wescott.

Local resident Jane Jobe brings a commitment for award-winning sustainable land development. Geoff Wescott is a distinguished academic in environmental science, coastal policy and nature conservation. The appointment of local Aboriginal resident, Patrice Mahoney, will ensure a greater understanding of issues relating to Aboriginal Victorians.

The Board will guide the management of PINP and the recovery from the significant impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. The Government provided $8.8 million in financial support to PINP in the last year given the downturn in visitation due to international border closures.

These appointments continue to deliver on the Government’s goal of achieving 50 per cent female representation on boards with five women appointed to the Board.

One of the Board members is Aboriginal, two members have a culturally and linguistically diverse background and two members live in rural Victoria – ensuring local issues are represented and diverse perspectives are considered.
