GETTING ON WITH THE PLENTY ROAD UPGRADE

Locals are set to see safer and faster journeys with Stage 2 of the Plenty Road Upgrade now underway.

Member for Mill Park Lily D’Ambrosio and Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green visited the project site where major works are now underway to deliver big benefits for Melbourne’s northern commuters.

Stage 2 targets the seven kilometre stretch of road between Bush Boulevard and Bridge Inn Road, busting congestion at key bottlenecks and delivering safety upgrades for 35,000 daily motorists.

The Upgrade will deliver an extra lane in each direction, as well as the upgrade of twelve key intersections, including Bridge Inn Road, Waterview Drive and Francesca Drive.

The intersection of Bridge Inn Road and Plenty Road get new traffic lights, improving congestion and efficiency.

Nine new slip lanes will be installed, with seven of those enabling motorists to merge onto Plenty Road more smoothly.

Turning access into Bellevue Boulevard will also be enhanced, with the installation of a safer, signalised, right-hand turn for northbound motorists.

Cyclists and pedestrians will also benefit from the Upgrade, with on-road cycling lanes added in each direction and a new shared pedestrian and bike path.

The project delivers on the community consultation that took place with residents and traders in 2017.

Stage 1 of the Upgrade is almost complete with additional lanes between McKimmies Road and Bush Boulevard operational in both directions. Final lighting and signal completion works will wrap up in the coming weeks.

The full completion of the Plenty Road Upgrade is expected in 2021.
